Interests and Activities
Edward's interests are diverse and are more numerous than dramatics and Real Tennis. Although these do hold his passion, Edward has a great number of interests. In his adolescent, he was very much interested in magic and learned several tricks to the amusement for his young nieces and nephews. Edward also is an avid reader of thrillers novels. Although Edward's music tastes in the Seventy's stood very much in line with the playlist of radio two, the last news of Edward's musical appreciation was that he was a fan of Peter Gabriel.
Edward has always been involved with sport. Unfortunately a concussion, several injuries, a bout of glandular fever and illegal tackles led him to give up rugby, a sport that he was greatly enjoyed. He is now a keen supporter of international rugby union as a spectator. Edward is also a keen skier and often spend one holiday on the slope. When Edward was younger he also enjoyed water sports like water skiing and sailing. However I don't think that he gets to spend time on this anymore, as he hasn't attended Cowes Week and other sailing functions for a number of years. It is possible that the decommissioning of the Royal Yacht Britannia could have also resulted in this. The Earl of Wessex also holds a private pilots license, but I can't say if this was done to facilitate his career in the Marines or if it was done as a hobby. Nor do I know if he still go out flying.
Edward is also very much involved in country pursuits of shooting and riding. Edward is a very good shoot and has a great knowledge of wild birds in the United Kingdom. These activities are very much a shared love with his family, especially the Duke of Edinburgh whom taught Edward how to shoot at a very early age and it gives them something to do together.
