On the 17th of Decmber 2007, The Countess fof Wessex gave birth to Viscount Severn at Frimley Park NHS Hospital in Surrey. The baby boy was born by ceasarean section at approximately 4:20pm. The Earl of Wessex was present at the birth of his 6lbs 2oz son.

The uncomplicated birth was a great relief to the family, after the stress created last time. The Countess of Wessex and her son were released from hospital on the 19th of December 2007. Two days later they announced that they had named the boy, James Alexander Philip Theo. As the eldest son of the HRH The Earl of Wessex he will carry the title of Viscount Severn and as a son replaces Lady Louise as eight in line to the throne.
