Edward and Sophie visit Vancouver

TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited Vancouver as part of their 10 day trip to Canada.  They also helped raise the 2010 Paralympic Games flag. 

HRH The Earl of Wessex joined by the Countess of Wessex and hundreds of others raised of the flag for the Paralympic Games.  The royal couple spend over a half an hour watching the various performance around the venue in celebration of the event.  Prince Edward, who is a patron of the British Paralympic Association, was accompanied on the walkabout by Premier Gordon Campbell, Senator Pat Carney, Mayor Sam Sullivan and other dignitaries.  After a tour inside city hall, the royal couple took part in a flag-raising ceremony outside.  Sullivan said it was the goal of the city to be known worldwide by 2010 as the "most accessible, most inclusive city in the world."

The ceremony concluded with the giant flag of the Paralympic Games being hoisted above the grounds, where it will fly until the Games are concluded.
