Memorial Service for Mary Rhys-Jones
TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex attended the service of thanksgiving in honour of the Countess of Wessex's mother, Mary Rhys-Jones on the 16th of September 2005. The service was held at St George's Parish Church, in Benenden, Kent.
TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex joined Christopher Rhys-Jones and other members of the Rhys-Jones family at a memorial service for Mary Rhys-Jones. The family was accompanied by a congregation of about 300.
The service was conducted by Canon Christopher Smith, the parish vicar. The prayers were led by former Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Peter Nott, who was a close friend of Mrs Rhys-Jones and performed the marriage of TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex. Both Prince Edward and Sophie's brother David both gave readings. All the readings and hymns, which included Praise My Soul The King of Heaven and Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer , had been chosen by Mrs Rhys-Jones.
